To Antigua

We spent few days in the busy little Ile de Saints , anchored off the main bay and then a day sail up to the north of Guadeloupe and a night  in a lovely fishing village called Deshaies. For some reason customs in Deeshaies was closed this week on Monday and Tuesday so in order to clear out and push on to Antigua, we took a bus over to the other side of the island to a Marina in the city of Pointe-a- Pitre. We left Monday evening for an over night sail to Antigua. It was a beautiful night and a fast sail. We had a full moon and a clear sky. On watch at 1.30 am I noticed the moon started to diminish and over the course of the next few hours I watched a total eclipse. The moon hung heavy and dusty orange. We had a clear view of the southern cross too. It has been a while since we had an over night sail , nice to be out again. We arrived in Antigua 8 am. Antigua is just amazing, very attractive. The coast line was very attractive as we sailed in. We are anchored in English Harbour, by Nelsons Dockyard. Beautiful old docks and buildings and some of the biggest yachts we’ve seen. Classics Week starts this Thursday (17th- 22nd) and the classics are starting to arrive. Its very exciting.
This Thursday too Ruth and Martin Dans parents arrive! We are so looking forward to seeing them and exploring this exciting place with them.
